The greatest pay-out to an individual for winning a videogames competition is $1,000,000 (£535,980). There have been two separate competitions on which this sum was offered as the prize. The inaugural WorldWide Web Games was won by Kavitha Yalavarthi (USA). Organized by Fun Technologies Inc, and held in Hollywood, California, USA, in 2006, three games (Bejeweled 2, Solitaire, and Zuma) were featured in the competition, which took place over 12 hours and featured 71 contestants. Winners of the MLB 2K Perfect Game Tournament also used to walk away with US$1 million (£636,000, 750,000 Euros), making that the largest single cash prize for a videogame tournament involving a sport. That changed in 2013, however, when the winner of the MLB2K13 Perfect Game Tournament pocketed a cool US$250,000 (£159,000, 187,000 Euros), a quarter of the overall prize total of $1 million.
The 30 b-ball team winners grab US$25,000 (£16,000, 19,000 Euros) each for throwing the “most perfect” perfect game for each MLB team. The top four perfect gamers then play in New York City for the grand price. The last $1 million winner was Christopher Gilmore (USA) who defeated 25-year-old Charles Bates of Conway, Ark. in the tournament final, 10-1.
