The most capacious piñata was a giant donkey containing c. 8,000 lb (3,600 kg) of candy unveiled by Carnival Cruises in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, on 2 November 2008. The six-storey piñata stood 18.85 m (61 ft 10.25 in) tall.

The colourfully decorated piñata (Spanish: "pot") was a scaled-up version of a commercially available piñata in the shape of a donkey. It was the centrepiece of Carnival Cruises' "Piñata Block Party", and the basis for a TV commercial promoting the cruise line's new branding campaign. The jumbo donkey was due to be hoisted by crane and smashed open with a wrecking ball but local police, worried about the safety of the thousands of spectators, insisted it be opened while on the ground. The candy that finally gushed forth was donated to local non-profit organizations, including Philabundance, the YMCA, Ronald McDonald House, Dignity Housing,The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Travelers Aid Family Residence Center.
