The UK's Brendon Leigh became the first ever F1 eSports Series champion, on 25 November 2017, as verified by the official F1 eSports Series website. He clinched victory on the last lap of the Grand Final after a dramatic last-gasp overtake. He finished with 74 points from the three grand prix that made up the Grand Final – the Canadian, Belgium and Abu Dhabi – and six points clear of the second-place driver F. Donoso Delgado (Chile). The videogame used to simulate F1 was the PC version of Codemaster's F1 2017 (2017).

Drivers had to compete in two stages of qualification and a semi-final to reach the Championship's Grand Final that was held at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 24–25 November 2017.
