On 28 October 2009, days before the release of Dragon Age: Origins, Electronic Arts staged a 24-hour-long gaming tournament in London, UK, with a cash prize of $50,000 at stake. Ten four-man teams comprising of fans from around the globe were pitted against each other in the forthcoming RPG’s Warden’s Quest. As well as completing the challenge, which involved defeating the darkspawn, teams also scored points for enemies killed, areas explored and achievements earned. Team Hungary won the event, securing a prize of $12,500 for each of its members. A team selected from BioWare’s own community came in second place, while Canada finished third.
