In 2011, the Legend of Zelda series became the first franchise to be honoured with the Spike Video Game Awards Hall of Fame award (now known as VGX Awards). This annual award show has been honouring the best computer and videogame titles (and screening previews of upcoming releases) since its first event on 2 December 2003.
