The largest combined prize pool for an esports event is $62.5 million (£47.2 million), offered at the Esports World Cup (EWC) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between 3 July and 25 August 2024. The inaugural tournament series saw 23 events contested from 21 different videogames.
The total purse was divided into four main categories: Club Championship ($20 million awarded between the top 16 most successful teams), Game Championships ($33.8 million awarded between winners of 22 game tournaments), Qualifiers ($7.6 million) and Most Valuable Players Awards ($1.1 million, divided between the MVPs of each of the 22 tournaments).
The games contested during the 53-day event were: Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty Warzone, Dota 2, EA Sports FC 24, Fortnite, Free Fire, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (split into separate male/female categories), Overwatch 2, PUBG Battlegrounds, PUBG MOBILE, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, RENNSPORT (split into separate driver/team categories), Rocket League, StarCraft II, Street Fighter 6, Teamfight Tactics and TEKKEN 8.
